Have a wee and get a cuppa, because this is a long one.

From Congleton you follow the Biddulph Valley Way, an old railway line, south into Stoke-on-Trent. There you pick up the Caldon Canal and follow it to its end in Hanley, then head north on the Trent and Mersey to Kidsgrove, and finally take the Macclesfield Canal back to Congleton.

28 miles in all, nearly all on old railways and towpaths, with fantastic scenery. Brilliant for a bike, an ultra training run or a couple of days' walking.
