From Acton Bridge to the very end of the Trent and Mersey Canal at Preston Brook, back through Longacre Wood and along the Weaver past Dutton Locks.

The Trent and Mersey runs 93 miles from Derbyshire, and this is where it stops. From Acton Bridge you run along the towpath to Preston Brook Tunnel, where it quietly turns into the Bridgewater Canal.

The way back goes through Longacre Wood and down to the River Weaver by the big railway viaduct, then along past Dutton Locks and back to the start. I've included a shorter version, and a longer one way option on to Runcorn with the train home.

There's no shortage of pubs: the Leigh Arms, the Riverside and the Hazel Pear at Acton Bridge, and the Hanging Gate at Weaverham.
