Everyone knows the busy end of Delamere Forest. This is the other end. Primrose Hill Wood, above Kelsall and Willington, is quiet, hilly and full of character.
The loop takes you round the wood and through Urchin's Kitchen, a small sandstone gorge cut by meltwater at the end of the Ice Age. It's mossy and atmospheric and feels much bigger than it is.
Three and a half miles from a free car park. It's lovely in autumn.
