This one is a walk rather than a run, and slowing down suited it. Sandon is a small estate village near Stafford, built around the Sandon Hall estate of the Earls of Harrowby.

From the free parking on Sandon Road you head into the village past the Parish Rooms, built in 1886 by Mary, Countess of Harrowby, and out past the estate towards the Norman church. The route then follows quiet brooks and field paths and picks up a canalside stretch before looping back.

It's easy underfoot with a few short hills and some stiles. Perfect for stretching out bungalow legs on a slow afternoon.
