Bollington, White Nancy & Kerridge Hill
5 mile circular walk / run near Macclesfield, Cheshire

Great route today, we’re in Bollington just north of Macclesfield in Cheshire. Todays route takes us into Bollington via the Macclesfield canal and then up Kerridge Hill for a fantastic view then back via the canal and the Middlewood way. The windmill inn is located conveniently close to the start / end point at Holehouse lane, should the walk / run bring on a raging thirst.

The Route

Starting from the car park just off Holehouse lane we head down the Macclesfield canal into Bollington. At bridge 27 exit and head up Hurst lane. At the end turn left into Grimshaw lane and then left again into Chancery Lane. At the bend near Cow lane take the path on the left up Kerridge Hill. At the next gate I went straight on, (you could have gone left for a steeper but short route) when you reach the end of the track turn left and then immediately left again up the track sign posted for White Nancy. After the cattle grid turn right up the track to White Nancy and take in the view. Now continue straight on along Kerridge Saddle and up Kerridge Hill for more stunning view. From the top of the hill turn around and head back to the last gate and turn left. This winds down the hill to Windmill lane. At the road cross and turn right taking the path immediately on your left. Turn left into higher lane and drop down to Oak lane. Just before the canal boat yard, take the path on your right over the field and then turn left which brings you to a bridge over the canal. Cross and join the canal. After a short distance on the left is a path marked Middlewood Way, take this, it drops down onto Grimshaw lane where you turn left and then right to join the Middlewood way. Continue on the Middlewood Way until you reach a bridge marked for the Windmill Inn, exit here, the pub is just to your left and the Holehouse lane Car Park is on your right.
