Run/Walk Wheelock Rail Trail
5 mile circular route Sandbach, Wheelock, Rail Trail to Ettiley Heath

Today we’re heading out to Bradwall and Brereton for a 7 mile route across the fields and around the country lanes on a cold snowy morning. The beast from the east is on its way back and with wind chill the temperature was down to -4.

The Route

Starting from the Cobbles in Sandbach, we head down Penda way across the Commons and through Sandbach Park. We take a left onto Adlington Drive then a right onto Tatton Drive then take the path on the left through to Congleton Road. At Congleton Road we turn right and then left into Claymore Road picking up the footpath that takes you across the fields to Pillar Box Lane at Bradwall. We then turn right and take the track on the bend (Brindley lane) over the motorway and take the path on the right. Where the path forks, we are heading right to Brereton however for a shorter route you could turn left, this path brings you out by M6 Junction 17.

Arriving at Brereton we cross the road and pass the Bears Head Pub around the corner then turn left down School Lane. Opposite the turn for the country park, take the path on the right over the fields to Newcastle Road. Turn left and cross and take the path on the other side which takes you past Arclid Quarry and brings you out near the motorway at junction 17. Head down Old Mill Road, cross over and take the path that runs parallel to the road finally bringing you out on Church Street. Head up Church Street onto Crown Bank and back to the Cobbles.
