Brookhouse Moss 9 | 9 mile circular from Sandbach
Via Betchton, Fourlanes End, Martin's Moss, Brookhouse Moss, Mossend & Arclid

Todays route is stunning, the weather was stunning and so was the scenery. Starting from the Cobbles in Sandbach we are heading out towards Betchton, Fourlanes End and Martin’s Moss to Brookhouse Moss returning via Mossend, Arclid and the quarry at Sandbach Heath.

 

The Route

Starting from the Cobbles we head down the High Street and up the Hill heading down Manor road then right onto Reynolds Lane. We take the path past the motorway services*. 

 

*note – alternatively you could continue on Reynold lane and at the bend by the farm turn right up the track and over to the old airfield then take a right which brings you out close to the Love Lane path.

 

We take a left onto Newcastle Road towards Betchton, take care its a busy road and there is a stretch with no path. We then take the path on the left over the fields to Love Lane. At Love Lane turn left up to Fourlanes End and then take the path on the left over the fields to Martin’s Moss. Turn left then take the path on the right, at the fork in the path go left towards Brookhouse Moss. 

 

At Moss Mere turn right then left onto the Brookhouse Moss path which skirts the left of Moss Mere and then the right hand edge of Brookhouse  Moss before going through the Moss itself. The path brings you out at Mossend, turn left and then right on the path which brings you to Rue Moss Farm, turn right on the path which brings you out on Spark lane at Arclid. Turn left and then go left at the traffic lights onto Newcastle Road. After a few hundred yards take the path on the right over the fields then turn left which brings you to Hemmingshaw Lane, cross the land and take the footpath straight ahead which takes you past the quarry and brings you out on Church lane Sandbach Heath. Turn left and cross the motorway then take the path to Hawthorne Drive on your left. At Hawthorne Drive turn left then left into Maple Close and down the path to the traffic lights and back up the High street into town.
