Cycling the Middlewood Way - Bollington to Marple

f you’ve not been this is worth an explore, lot’s of places you can hop on and off onto the canal to make a circular route, I did a 16.5 mile there and back, it strikes me this would be a great place to do marathon training adding a mile a week until you do the whole thing and on into Marple.

Macclesfield, Bollington & Marple Railway

Opened in 1869, the railway provided an alternative route between Manchester and Macclesfield and carried the stone from Kerridge and coal from Poynton until it’s closure in 1970, it was converted to a trail for walkers, bikers and horse riders in 1985. The viaduct at Bollington is particularly imppresive with it’s 23 arches and great view.
