Descent to the Devils Pulpit, Near Loch Lomond, Scotland

As we headed north from Glasgow we headed over the Erskine Bridge to Dumbarton at the beginning of a short road trip through the Scottish Highlands. Just south of Loch Lomond we turned off on the Stirling road and paused to take a look at the Devils Pulpit. A deep gorge carved from the sandstone, the water at the bottom runs blood red and standing in the water is a rock, the devils pulpit where the devil is said to stand and address is followers. It’s an eerie but stunning sight. You may recognise it as it’s been in several films and I recognise it as they filmed a bit of the tv show Outlander here. It’s a popular place so come early, avoid it when the river is running high and don’t bring children or animals, there is no guard rail, be very, very careful, you could fall to your death.
