Hassall Moss Loop - 7 Mile Circular Route from Sandbach

Beautiful route today, we’re heading out to Malkins Bank via Tall Chimneys and then doing a loop around Hassall Moss. It’s a 7 mile route or you could start at Malkins Bank for a shorter 3 mile route. It was a blustery spring morning, we’d had a lot of rain and more rain was forecast but as the wind picked up the sky turned briefly blue so I headed out and was rewarded with a fantastic rainbow as I crossed the fields at Hassall Moss.

The Route

Starting from the Cobbles we head down to the main road and take the footpath to Houndings Lane, take a right and then a left on the footpath to Tall Chimneys. Beyond Tall Chimneys we turn right up Stannerhouse lane and then left into Betchton Road. We take the path on the right which follows the Trent and Mersey canal then cross the canal at the bridge and head to Malkins Bank down the towpath. At Malkins Bank we turn left across the golf course then head straight on down Mill lane to Hassall Moss. Taking the path straight we turn right just before the vets on the path that comes out by the underpass at Wheelock. We turn right and head up Mill lane and take the other path across the golf course which brings us back to Malkins Bank we head down Hassall Road towards Sandbach turning left into Houndings Lane and retracing our steps back into town.
