I loved this one, perhaps its just me but I love running by the sea. Starting from the Boating Lake on South Parade at West Kirby on the Wirral we head out to Hilbre Island for some fantastic views.
From South Parade head to the North end of the boating lake and head out onto the sand, head out to Little Eye aiming to keep it on your right. When you reach Little Eye, aim for the right hand side of the next island Middle Eye / Little Hilbre. When you reach Middle Eye head up the beach and up the steps and follow the path over the island and down to the shore on the far side. Follow the rough track that runs between Middle Eye and Hilbre Island. When you reach Hilbre Island head to the left of the Red Sandstone Cliff onto the track onto the island and follow the track to the far end and enjoy the view. When you’re ready, retrace your steps.
Park on South Parade if you can, busy in high season
Or park in the pay and display car park just off South Parade
The Island is only accessible when the tide is out so make sure you check the tide times here. Its safe to cross 3 hours after high tide and you need to be back 3 hours before the next high tide.
Some useful information about the island and the safe path to take.
