Meerbrook & Tittesworth Water - A 5 Mile Walk/Run ending at the Lazy Trout

It’s a damp February morning but we aren’t going to let that stop us enjoying ourselves. Today we are just North of Leek in Staffordshire starting from the village of Meerbrook which means of course we finish here too, right outside the Lazy Trout Pub to be precise.

Our route takes us around Tittesworth Water, a reservoir built in 1858 and extended in 1963 it is fed by water from the river Churnet which we have visited before and supplies water to Staffordshire Moorlands, Stoke-on-Trent and Leek. Good news for the locals, it was almost full when I visited.

It’s a pretty straight forward route, I parked on Meerbrook Road and then headed right passing the Lazy Trout and then taking the first path right around the reservoir. The path is well marked you can’t go wrong really, there are a couple of variations I took the path that stays close to the waters edge at the far side for instance. At the end of our lap we reach the main visitors centre where you can grab a drink and an ice cream and then head up to the road and left over the bridge back to the lazy Trout.
