Rode Heath Via Love Lane - 9 Mile Circular route from Sandbach

What a gorgeous day and a beautiful route. Today we are heading over the fields to Love Lane at Betchton, picking up the South Cheshire Way over to Rode Heath then picking up the Trent and Mersey Canal and following it back to Sandbach. The route is 9 miles and I’d heartily recommend giving it a go if you’ve not been that way before. If you want to make the route shorter, I’d suggest starting and finishing at Love Lane, getting off the canal at Hassall Green and closing the loop by following New Inn Road back to Love Lane.

The Route

Starting from the Cobbles in Sandbach, Cheshire we head down the High Street and up the Hill at Sandbach Heath. Turn left into Heath Road then immediately right into Manor Road. At the end of the road turn right then immediately left into Reynolds Lane, at the bend take the path to the right passing the farm and over the field. After the field turn right and then right again by the old airfield taking the path out to Newcastle Road. Turn left and then take the path on your left to Love lane.

At Love Lane turn right and take the path on your left following a beautiful brook. This brings you out on the Newcastle Road between the Bulls Head at Fourlanes End and Rode Heath, turn right and then take the path on your right which comes out at Rode Heath.

At Rode Heath cross the road and go through the farm yard and get onto the Trent and Mersey Canal towards Sandbach (left). Get off the canal at Malkins Bank and head up Hassall Road and back down the Hill into town.
