A childhood haunt: from Stockton Heath along the Bridgewater Canal past Walton and up to Appleton Reservoir for views over Warrington.

Another childhood memory. I used to come to Stockton Heath as a kid, and it hasn't changed much, except the Greenall Whitley brewery has gone. I was told the pub opposite had a beer pipe running under the road straight from the brewery. Not sure it's true, but it's a nice story.
The route follows the Bridgewater Canal towards Walton, then climbs to Appleton Reservoir for views across Warrington before looping back to the village.
