Willington & Boothsdale | 3.5 mile circular route
including The Boot Inn & a section of the Sandstone Trail

Today we are just outside Kelsall doing a beautiful 3.5 mile route around Willington Corner, Boothsdale and Little Switzerland which includes a section of the Sandstone Trail and The Boot Inn at Boothsdale.

The Route

Starting from the free car park at Primrose Hill Wood we head down the track and join the Sandstone Trail which is marked towards Beeston Castle. At Urchin’s Kitchen we turn right and then left skirting the edge of the woods before turning right up the field to Tirley Lane. Go straight on then take the path on the right at the bend. The track drops us down to Willington Corner, at the end turn right and then right again onto Willington Lane opposite Willington Hall Hotel .

Continue down the lane until you reach the sign for the Boot Inn. Turn right and drop into the peaceful valley where the Boot Inn sits at Boothdale. Once refreshed continue past the Boot and up the track to Gooseberry lane. Turn left up the track to the fantastic viewing point at Little Switzerland and the on over the field where the iron aged hill fort used to be this brings you out on Wastle lane, turn right back up the lane to the car park.
