Winterley Pool & Wheelock Heath /
7.5 mile Circular route from Sandbach via Malkins Bank

Its another week in lockdown so I’m continuing the theme of finding quiet local routes to get my daily exercise. Todays 7.5 mile route takes us from Sandbach down to Malkins Bank and then over the fields to Wheelock Heath and Winterley Pool returning via Wheelock Village.

The Route

Starting at the Cobbles in Sandbach we head down High Street, cross the road and take the path to Houndings Lane. We head left and then right down Hassall Road to Malkins Bank, crossing the canal and golf course and heading straight on down Mill Lane and the footpath over the fields to Cheshire Pets Vets at Winterley. We then head down Sandy lane and onto Pool lane before taking the track to the left to Holmshaw Lane where we turn right and then take the path on our right which brings us out at Winterley Pool. We then follow the road back to Wheelock, taking a right into Mill lane by Shampaan and left into Cotton Lane. At the canal we cross and take the path to the right over the fields back to Hassall Road then retrace our steps down Houndings Lane and over the fields into town.
