You may recognise it from the 1980’s tv show ‘take the high road’. Take a stroll down the street to Loch Lomond and sit on the shore and soak up the stunning scenery.
Loch Lomond is the largest freshwater lake in Britain, it’s 24 miles long and 600ft deep at its deepest point near Tarbet. During the last ice age the loch was a glacier heading down the valley and then fanning out with the rocks and islands at its southern end formed by terminal moraine as the ice retreated.
This is an ancient site and a church has stood here since 510AD, the current church dates from 1875 built by Sir James Colquhoun in memory of his father who drowned, the church roof resembles an up turned boat. Hope you enjoy the video and it inspires you to pay a visit.
