Warning, watching this video will make you want to walk / run up mountains.
Buttermere in the Lake District is stunning, we walk down to the lake then up the steep path to Bleaberry Tarn and then the even steeper path up to the top at Red Pike. We then head along the ridge to High Stile continuing along the ridgeline to Scarth Gap Pass at Haystacks then back down to Buttermere. We have a look at where the ending scene of the Tom Cruise Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning was shot and ponder if the presence of the RAF inspired him in the plot of Top Gun. Feet up, relax, enjoy..
Note, the GPX and map peg this as an 8 miler but I guess this doesn’t take into account all the tiny turns you make as my strava showed it as 8 miles to the far end of the lake where it ran out and it’s definitely 2 miles from there
