Davenham & Moulton - 5 mile walk / run route including the River Weaver

Today we’re in Davenham, a beautiful village near Northwich in Cheshire for a 5 mile route over the fields then down to Moulton where we run up the river weaver to the blue bridge at Hartford then back down the hill into Davenham with a couple of good pubs right at the end, the Oddfellows Arms and the Bulls Head.

The Route

Starting from Church street in Davenham we take the path opposite the church over the fields. At the track turn right which brings you to London Road where we turn right and then left into Jack lane which takes us into Moulton.

Take a left into Niddries lane which becomes a track that drops down through a railway tunnel and comes out at Weaver Parkway on the River Weaver.

Turn right and follow the river to Vale Royal Locks, you could optionally turn right here which would make the route slightly shorter and rejoin the route at Hartford Road from Eaton lane. However I’m continuing down the river to the Blue Bridge.

Exit right at the bridge up the hill to Hartford Road which drops back down into the middle of Davenham where you might like to stop for a rest at either the Oddfellows Arms or the Bulls Head before heading down Church street back to the starting point.
