Today on run adventurer I’m taking a trip down memory lane, running a 7 mile route around kelsall where I grew up. It’s a beautiful spot for a walk or a run with fantastic views towards Ellesmere Port, Chester and North Wales. I’m dedicating this video to all those folk that have lived in kelsall over the years and have since moved away. I pass all the old haunts and reminisce about kelsall from my youth, I remember Rusty and the chinchillas at the Clogger, Broomhalls, the VG, the footbridge, the Windy Ridge cafe, the post office at the top of the hill where I used to buy sweets by the quarter, the Farmers arms / Foresters / Royal Oak, the strawberry fields before the bypass and the scout hut on Grub lane. So why not join me on a trip down memory lane.
I’ve parked at the Primrose hill wood car park on Waste lane. From here I head down waste lane and at the bend take the path straight on down to Quarry lane which we cross and take the path down to Kelsborrow way where we turn left and take the path on the right past the allotments which comes out on the main road (Chester road) opposite St Philips church. We cross and take the path straight ahead which comes out at the top of Earles lane. We head down Earles lane and carry on at Chapel green then turn right into Holland’s lane. We take the second path on the left to Dog lane where we turn left. This brings us to the Royal Oak on the main road where we turn left and then right into Flat lane, passing the school we then turn left into Church street. Ahead on the right is Willington lane, I’m going to carry on here but for a shorter route turn right and carry on until you reach the Boot inn.
You could then return to the car park via Little Switzerland like I did in the Willington video
I continue up Church street to the main road where I turn left passing the Morris Dancer pub then turn right up Church triangle and Grub lane to Brooms lane where we turn left and follow it to the old coach road where we turn left. I’ve then headed left up Hall lane and taken the path on the right which comes out at the yeld. From the Yeld I turned left down Yeld lane, following the road and then turning left into Longley lane. I continue down the road then take the path left across the field and over the Strawberry fields, crossing the bypass which brings us out on Brooms lane again. We turn left into Longley avenue, right into Halls lane and left into Old coach road which we follow through to Kelsall hill to the Farmers arms where we turn right up Waste lane back to the car park.
The route is based on parking at Primrose Hill Wood car park
