Come and join me on the Chester Marathon. Such a beautiful spot for a marathon, well organised and great support. The race starts at Chester Race course, turns left and then does a loop heading into the city centre via Canal Street then right into Northgate Street and left passing Chester Cathedral, left on the Main Street and right down to the Roman Amphitheatre before turn right then left down Lower Bridge Street and over the River Dee and out of the city. The course heads south passing Eccleston and on to Pulford then continues south towards Wrexham. At Holt we turn north again through Farndon and back to Chester. Alas, it wasn’t my day, I hurt a hip flexor 2 weeks ago in the Chester Half Marathon and by mile 6 I was in pain and had to pull out at mile 18 just north of Farndon. I’ll be back, next time I won’t make the mistake of running a half marathon two weeks before the race.
