Biddulph & Knypersley - A 6.25 Mile Route including Wicken Stones & Knypersley Pool

Today on Run Adventurer we are in Biddulph in Staffordshire for a 6 mile route that takes us through the town, past the Wicken Stones to Rock End and on to Knypersley Pool returning via Knypersley and the Biddulph Valley Way. Lovely route, well worth a visit.

The Route

Starting from the shoppers car park off Wharf Road in Biddulph we head up to High Street and turn left and continuing down the hill onto Congleton Road. At the roundabout turn right onto Thames Drive past the leisure centre. At the bend in the road take the path on the right, note there are two paths, we want the second one and to bear left. Follow the path through the wooded valley and up a track to Pen-Y-Bont Walk where we turn left and then immediately right Into Ruthin Grove. At the end of the road take the path straight on up to Wicken Stones and then turn right following the line of the hill down to Rock End at Park Lane where we turn right and immediately left down the track (Lodge Barn Road). You’ll reach a gate marked Woodland Lodge go straight on and then after a short distance turn right on the path across the fields which comes out at Knypersley Reservoir. Turn right and enjoy the viewing spot then continue down the path turning left across the dam. Follow the path up the hill, note for a shorter walk there is a car park at the top of this hill, however we are turning right and continuing to follow around the edge of Knypersley Pool. Just after the footbridge take the path on the left up the hill and over the fields to Mill Hayes Road. Turn right and then immediately left on the footpath that comes out at Harlech Drive in Knypersley. Head down the hill, crossing the road straight on down to Park Lane where we turn left. Go straight on at the traffic lights and then join Biddulph Valley Way, the path is on the left and goes under the road. Continue down the Biddulph Valley Way until it crosses a track, turn right down the hill on the track which comes out in the middle of Biddulph opposite Wharf road where we started.
