Today on Run Adventurer, we’re in Ipstones in Staffordshire for a 4.5 mile circular route. Starting at the Church of St Leonard in Ipstones we run through the village and across the fields and through the woods to the Caldon Canal in the Churnet Valley following it to Consall where we have visited before on our run from Cheddleton. We then head back via the Devil’s Staircase and across the fields back to the church in Ipstones. Staffordshire Moorlands is a lovely area, well worth a visit, I’ll definitely be back to Ipstones there is more to see.
Starting from the Church of St Leonard we head down Church lane into the village of Ipstones. At the end of the road we turn right on Froghall Road to the edge of Ipstones then take the path right across the fields and dropping down through the woods to the Caldon Canal. We turn left and follow the canal passing Consall Railway Station to the Black Lion Pub. We turn right here right past the pub and follow the path up the Devil’s Staircase and on to a tarmac drive where we turn right then almost immediately right on a path down into a valley and over a stream and left up to Belmont Road where we turn right. We now turn left on a path over the fields and where the path beaches we turn right and follow the path to Odda Lane which we follow back to the Church of St Leonard in Ipstones.
I parked on the road at Church Lane. Just be considerate of the locals it looks like it get busy near the church and at the other end in the village but there is space to park in the middle near the memorial hall.
