GRGR21 Day 7 - Middlewich & Davenham 13 Mile Circular Run

It’s the final day of GRGR21 and its time for the Free-For-All Challenge, basically do as much as you can. My legs are pretty whacked before we start tbh, this actually being the 9th day in a row I’ve run and having run back to back with the night run the previous evening but I didn’t let that stop me. Going at a nice easy pace I plotted out a circular 13 mile route which I couldn’t easily shortcut and set off to empty the tank.

The Route

Starting from Croxton Lane in Middlewich we head down the Trent and Mersey Canal towards Northwich until we reach bridge 179 where we get off and follow the lane towards Davenham. At the end of the lane turn left and follow the road through Davenham, at the road by the Bulls Head / Oddfellows Arms cross over and head up Hartford road to the Bypass and down the bank to the Blue bridge. Join the river weaver at the Bridge and turn left towards Winsford. Follow the path passing Weaver Parkway and the Salt Mine, after the min take the left branch of the path on the bend. After the bench 3/4’s of the way up the hill take the path on the right that stays close to the river and follow it down to the Wharton Road Roundabout. Cross the road past The Hive then cross the main road and take the path opposite by river. Follow the path marked Rilshaw meadow, when the path branches at a large field turn left up the hill to Rilshaw Lane and turn right. Follow it to the end then turn right into Clive Lane and immediately right into Clive Back Lane. Follow the road head under the railway bridge then turn right on the Weaver Valley Way Marked Path. When you reach the canal, turn left onto the towpath towards Middlewich. Continue on the tow path until you reach Bridge 26, exit and turn right onto Coalpit Lane. Follow it to the end then turn right at the Welcome to Middlewich Sign cross and take the path into Croxton Trail Park. Where the path forks turn right and which will bring you out by the recycling centre close to the starting point.
