Today on Run Adventurer, we’re running the second half of the Eddisbury Way from Kelsall to Higher Burwardsley. Lots of footpaths, almost all off road and with some great views of Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle as well as the Cheshire Plain and if thats not enough we end at the Pheasant at Higher Burwardsley were you can sit outside and enjoy a drink and the view. This ones just Patreon subscribers, thanks so much for supporting us, you make all this possible.
Starting from the Morris Dancer, take the path by the pub to flat lane. Cross over and continue down the track then take the path on the left. Follow this and you will eventually come out on Willington Lane. Turn left then take the track on your left to Westwood Common. At the Golf course turn right then left and head to the far side then turn right and follow the edge until you reach a pond and turn left. Follow the path to a t junction where we turn right and then left. Follow this to the lane and turn left and follow it to the A41 Tarporley Road at Duddon. Turn left, after the bend opposite the bus stop take the path on the right. This crosses a field to Duddon Hook Lane. Turn right then immediately left and follow the path to the farm. The path goes straight through the farm, at the far side the path is straight ahead of you but you can’t get to it so turn right and then left. Opposite the stile we should have taken take the path. Head diagonally left over the field down the dip and up the other side to the tree line. The path is hidden in the hedge, you cross a small bridge and then turn left, the path as marked on the OS Map goes right through the garden of the house ahead, I hunted but couldn’t find the stile so in the end just climbed the fence and turned left into Hoofield Road. Take the path on the left and follow it. At the hedge just before the woods turn right and keep following the path to Hoofield Lane where we turn left into Huxley. After the Chapel, take the path on your right. At the next stile go diagonally left, do the same at the next stile which will bring you to the edge of the canal. Follow the edge of the field then turn left down a bank and left and go through the tunnel and up to the lane were we turn right under the rail bridge then immediately left on the path. At the next stile go diagonally left and in the far corner of the field turn right (there is no stile or marker). Follow the path to Newton Lane and turn left. At the end of the road turn left then immediately right into Wood Lane and follow it to the end. Climb the stile over the sandstone wall and go straight on. In the next field you will see a wood to your left. Go straight on (slight detour around a watering hole) take the stile that goes up the right hand side of the woods, then at the next stile turn right and follow it to Out Lane where we turn left. Now take the path on your left up to Pennsylvania Lane and turn right. The Pheasant is ahead on your left.
