Tarporley in the heart of Cheshire - 3 Mile Run with views of Beeston Castle

Today we’re in Tarporley a large village in the heart of Cheshire. There has been a settlement here since neolithic times with a Stone Age axe and bronze age arrowheads found close to the village. It’s a really pretty village with several nice pubs to visit after your walk or run including the Rising Sun, The Swan and the Foresters Arms. It was damp when I visited in winter so I’d recommend a pair of wellies for walkers and a mud doesn’t matter resolve for runners.

The Route

Starting from the free Car Park behind the Rising Sun, we run down the Main Street and then turn right at St Helens Church and take the path past the church yard. Where the path appears to turn right, go straight on, the path has no sign and isn’t obvious but will bring you to the A49.

Go straight on over the road, the path continues and then branches, we go right at the gate and follow the path to the Crib lane on the edge of Tiverton.

Turn right on the road. There is a path on the right which takes you to the Sandstone Trail path but it was wet on my visit so I continued down Crib lane to Pudding lane and then turned right following the Sandstone trail marked path.

Follow the path until you reach the wood, go straight on at the wood, ignore the Tarporley sign. Follow the path until you reach Back lanes. Turn left on the track and then right at the next junction and cross the A49. Now turn right and then take the next path on your left which comes out at the car park behind the Rising Sun where we started.
