Do you need a heart rate monitor to run? What useful info can it give you?

Bit of a chat today about using a heart rate monitor and what useful information you can get out of it. We run through how to calculate your max heart rate and zones and talk through rest heart rate, zone 1, zone 2, your aerobic threshold / MAF pace, zone 3/4/5 and your Anaeorobic Threshold (AT). I’m no expert on these things, these are just my thoughts and aimed really at the recreational runner, there are plenty of good athletes out there giving advice for more serious athletes, eg Sage Canadays channel

In the video we talk through how to do a conconi test, the formula you’ll need to convert your lap time into mph is: (3600/laptimeinseconds)x(lapdistanceinmetres/1609)
