Gyrn Goch to Porthdinllaen | 14.75 Mile Run on the Wales Coast Path

Today on Run Adventurer, we’re continuing our run down the North Wales Coast the Llyn Peninsula. We pick it up where we left it last time at Gyrn Goch and run down to the beach at Trefor then around the headland and up over Garn Ganol and drop down the far side to the Welsh Language Heritage Centre at Nant Gwrtheyrn. The path then takes us along the coast to Pistyll and then inland slightly before dropping down to Nefyn. We have a run along the beach at Nefyn and along the headland to Porthdinllaen, ending our route on Porthdinllaen Beach outside Ty Coch Inn.

This is an absolutely stunning section of coastline you should definitely visit for yourself. There is a good deal of climbing on the path I recorded 2,650 ft of elevation gain with most of it between miles 4 and 6 at Garn Ganol but every climb is accompanied by an absolutely stunning view so put the video on your big tv, sit back and relax and run along with me.

The Route

I haven’t given a full turn by turn of the route in the video as we are just following the Wales Coast Path which is well marked. Do keep and eye out for the posts with the white tops as you could easily find yourself following a sheep track rather than the actual path. In the video the turns I mention are the ones that made me stop and pause momentarily wondering which way to go. I do step off the coast path a couple of times, first at Trefor I run down the beach rather than in via the town and then at Nefyn I follow my nose down the hill into the town slightly off the path I think.
