Today on Run Adventurer, we’re in Chester. Starting by the river Dee on the Chester side we cross Queens Park Bridge and head down the river around Earls Eye and down towards Eccleston. We get off the river at the same point we did in the Eccleston video and head into the woods but this time turn right on Chester Approach and follow it back to the river at Chester. We pause at Edgar’s Field to look at the shrine to the Goddess Minerva which date back to the 2nd Century and was carved by the quarrymen who worked here quarrying Sandstone for the walls at Chester. Finally we cross back across Dee Bridge by the weir back into the city.
I started from Little Roodee Car Park turning right out of the carpark down Castle Drive to Dee Bridge and on alongside the river Dee. At Queens Park Bridge, cross over and turn left and down to the river side. Turn right and follow the side of the river around Earls Eye and continue following the river for about 2 and a half miles. After the pumping station you will see a wall of sandstone to your right at the next kissing gate turn right up to Eaton Road and turn right. Next take the path on the left into the woods. When you reach a T in the path turn right on Chester Approach and follow it until it comes out at the roundabout on the Wrexham road. Cross over and take the path down into the woods. Turn right and bear right, follow the path until it reaches the river and then follow it beside the river into Edgar’s Field. At the far end turn left and cross the Dee Bridge then turn left on Castle Drive.
Right at the starting point £5 for up to 12 hours makes it ideal for a larger explore of Chester.
We pass this close to the end of the route. I can't vouch for this as a parking spot but didn't see any signs to say you couldn't park and a number of walkers seemed to be using it
Alternatively extend your route down to Eccleston and park at Eccleston Ferry
Right near the finishing point at Edgar's field
Also close to the start end, right on the river side too
