PATREON EXCLUSIVE: Pott Shrigley, Cheshire - Harrop Wood & Gritstone Trail

Another exclusive video just you patreon, today we are north of Macclesfield in Cheshire near Bollington where we’ve visited before at Pott Shrigley. It’s a tiny little village with a pretty old church. Not too far today about 3.5 miles so it would make a great walk as well as a great trail run with a good climb to work on your leg strength for the runners.

Parking

There’s limited parking on the road near the church, that’s where I started, if you can’t get parked there then head down Spuley Lane passing where I take the path until you reach a pull in for a few cars, you can then either head back up the lane or head up Hedge Row which will bring you to Harrop Wood at the brook.

The Route

Starting by the church head down Shrigley lane then left into Spuley Lane. Take the path left and follow the track all the way to Harrop Wood. St the brook cross and take the path left through the woods. As you approach the far side of the woods turn left and then bear right following the path around north of the woods. After the field at the woods turn left up a steep hill, follow the path over a field to Sherrow-Booth and then up the track for a fantastic view north towards Marple, Stockport and Manchester. Now bear left away from the track following the Gritstone trail which heads down to the track we came in on. Turn right and retrace your steps back to Spuley Lane, turning right and then right at the end into Shrigley Road back to our starting point.
