Padstow & Little Petherick - The one where I meet a bouncy deer

Beautiful place and worth getting here early morning to get it all to yourself. Today we have a run down the last couple of miles down the Camel Trail beside the Camel Estuary into Padstow passing Rick Stein’s Chip Shop and his original seafood restaurant that he opened in 1975. We pause by the harbour before heading up to St Petrocs Church and joining the Saints Way, a long distance path that runs from Padstow to Fowey believed to have been used by early Christian’s travelling from Ireland to Europe. The path is well marked and takes us out of Padstow and up Dennis Hill to the Obelisk for some stunning views of Padstow and Little Petherick Creek. We then follow the path to Little Petherick meeting one of the locals along the way 🦌who looked at me like it had never seen a human before, that was a special moment.

At Little Petherick we cross the bridge over the creek and then take the path up the other side, note this includes sections on the shoreline so avoid at high tide and there was some deepish mud in places. Finally we head over the fields to Tregonce and back down to the Camel Trail not far from our start point
