Prestbury & The Bollin Valley Way - A 5 mile circular route

Another beautiful place on our doorstep, this week we are returning to Prestbury, just North of Macclesfield in Cheshire. A beautiful village with lots of old buildings and a place that the rich and famous like to call home and quite understandably so. Last time we were here we headed down the Bollin Valley Way towards Macclesfield, today we are heading in the opposite direction along the Bollin Valley Way north and looping around via Mottram Woods. I love following a river, the babbling of the river and a circular route generally means climbing out of the valley on the way back and getting a great view looking back down on it from above.

Once again we start from the free car park by the church, passing through the church yard via the old Norman chapel and church then turning right on the Main Street down to the bridge and then turning left on the Bollin Valley Way. We follow the path to the second bridge we meet and cross into Mottram Woods and over the golf course and down the lane to the Bulls Head on Prestburyt Road then straight on at Priest lane then taking the path left. Looks like I missed a trick here, Mottram cross is just to the right of where I come out on Prestbury road. We follow the path heading left back to Prestbury Road and then straight on along the path back down to the river Bollin at the first bridge we passed on our way out then retrace our steps back to the village.
