Exploring Utkinton - A run passing Tirley Garth & through Utkinton, Cheshire

It’s a lovely spot, I started from Tirley Lane where the Sandstone Trail Path comes out of Primrose wood. You are up on the Sandstone ridge so take a minute to enjoy the view as you head down the lane to Tirley Garth which was built in 1907 for Bryan Leesmith director of Brunner Mond. It’s latest owner from what I can make out is Phil Redmond the famous tv producer known for Grange Hill, Brookside and Hollyoaks.

We take the path down the hill to Utkinton which sits next to the ridge with some cracking views out towards the Welsh mountains. I point out a couple of places where you can pick up the Sandstone trail path and follow it back to the starting point but I head down the lanes passing Willington Hall and into Willington then back up Chapel Lane to the starting point.

I then headed down to The Boot Inn, I suggest you do the same, it sits in a quiet valley and is a perfect place to sit outside as the sun goes down with a drink.
