The end of the Trent & Mersey Canal at Preston Brook, Cheshire
Today we’re exploring the last few miles of the Trent & Mersey Canal. Starting at Acton Bridge we run down to Preston Brook Tunnel where the Trent & Mersey Canal joins the Bridgewater Canal. We then head back through Longacre woods and down to the River Weaver near the rail viaduct and heading back beside the canal past Dutton Locks and on to our starting point. I’ve included versions of the route for those who want a shorter route or those who fancy a real adventure, a one way route through to Runcorn, returning by train.
