WHAT'S IT LIKE TO RUN AN ULTRA? Sams training & race report: The Gritstone Grind

I had a really interesting chat with Sam about how he trained for and ran his first ultramarathon, The Gritstone Grind, a 35 mile race that follows the Gritstone Trail from Kidsgrove in the south up to Lyme Park through some of the most stunning countryside in Cheshire. I was a bit over exuberant with the calorie estimate, when I ran the sandstone trail I burnt about 4,500 calories so add on your normal 2000 for the day and you have 6,500 for a treat at the end so thats at least 11 Big Macs..
